A student just discovered a limitation in the Bloglines service.
As some of you know, Bloglines serves as a web-based news aggregator as well as having a feature that allows you to make a links list (blogroll) in the sidebar of your blog. It turns out that the links list generated by Bloglines can only contain links to sites that have RSS or Atom syndication.
In other words, Bloglines won't allow you to link to traditional websites that aren't syndicated (The New York Times for example). So, if you want to have links in your links list that lead to websites that aren't syndicated, you'll have to do one of two things:
- Use Blogrolling instead of Bloglines.
- Type the links into the sidebar section of your blog template manually, just like you would if they were in the body of a post.
